about

Studio Bitch is Peter’s look back at the early days of his Seattle studio and drumming career, 1980-89, going back to his punk rock days in The Enemy. Many of these extremely varied tracks have never been released; all are quite obscure.

Peter: SB relives the incredibly fun and rewarding experiences I had working with many of Seattle’s most creative artists. I was in my late 20’s and early 30’s during this period and was a member of several bands while producing and engineering projects with groups I met while performing as well as groups I knew as friends.

I decided to make this collection of tracks available to the public because many of the bands represented here never got the attention they deserved. My goal for this project is simply to share these tunes with you and perhaps make you aware of bands or songs you might enjoy.

I primarily worked out of Triangle Recording thanks to owner Jack Weaver trusting me with keys to the facility, but also recorded at several other studios including The Music Source, London Bridge Studio and Triad. I later would become chief engineer at London Bridge, leaving there for a full-time gig at The Music Source just in time to miss doing the first Pearl Jam record. Pearl Jam did use some of my drumkit on that record.

The first single I recorded, “Rococo Crispies” for POPdEFECT, was done at a home studio in West Seattle due to the engineer there having not a clue. I was there to help Nicky tune his drums and ended up recording the two tracks. The first full-length album I recorded was for the amazing Richard Peterson, who to this day is a great friend. I have either recorded or been involved in his seven (7) albums as well as his current release, Covid 19 Suite.

After 10 years as studio manager at The Music Source, I started my own studio with the incomparable Vince Werner, and Clatter&Din would reign as a major player in Seattle’s commercial, music and film industry for 26 years!
